Abstract

This study examined Jordanian university students’ attitudes toward using artificial intelligence (AI) in psychological counseling and their relationship with mental health. A correlational descriptive approach was applied to a random sample of 720 students from six public and private universities. Results showed moderately positive attitudes toward AI and a moderate level of mental health. Significant differences were found in both attitudes and mental health by gender, academic major, and academic level, favoring females, students in scientific majors, and postgraduate students. A moderate to strong positive correlation was identified between attitudes toward AI and mental health. Regression analysis indicated that attitudes explained 28.2% of the variance in mental health. The findings highlight the importance of integrating AI into university counseling within a professional and ethical framework that ensures digital safety and confidentiality.
